




Who is this
Dana Wilde at present works in the newsroom of the local daily and
recently taught as an adjunct faculty member at the University of
Maine at Augusta. He has in previous incarnations also been a
full-time English professor, managed a publishing company, served
Fulbright Scholar appointments in South Africa and twice in China
where he lived in Shanghai and Xiamen with his wife Bonnie and son
Jack, knocked on doors for city directories, fired editors, hired
writers, operated rip saws and gigantic planers that could devour a
man's shoulder, pumped gas, won university awards for research and
a doctoral dissertation, played guitar in small-time rock bands,
written stories, poems, reviews, newspaper columns, essays and
literary criticism, sold paint and wallpaper, designed and written
direct mail advertising, coached college basketball and
cross-country, lived in Bulgaria, traveled in England, Iceland,
Ireland, Scotland, France, Greece, Italy, Egypt, Turkey, Cyprus,
Hong Kong and Romania, advised literary magazines, laid out
newspaper pages, edited a newspaper poetry column, written many
headlines, been a night and weekend counselor in a halfway house
for prison inmates, reported college hockey news, explained the
practical value of literature and philosophy to audiences in China,
Eastern Europe, South Korea, New York and Maine, and made this
website.
He lives in Troy, Maine, with his wife Bonnie Woellner, a great
English teacher. His son Jack plays drums and guitar and used to
write startling poetry, some of which appeared in Xavier Review of
New Orleans and the Bangor Daily News; he lives in Gardiner now.
